The Old Course, St. Andrew's (2023). Original artwork by Ross Eccles.
31cm x 23cm. Pen & Watercolour painting on Langton.
Situated close to Edinburgh, St. Andrews original golf course was established in the 1400's, and is the oldest and perhaps most iconic golf club in the World. It has remained a beloved destination for professionals and amateurs alike to this day, and here the historic club house with it's traditional architecture and features is beautifully captured by Ross.
Ross says "St Andrews is the “The home of Golf”. I painted this because I have never painted any golf courses, although I imagine many people are probably interested in them. David Carey qualified to play here in last year’s “150th Open” and his parents Dan and Margaret, along with David’s girlfriend, stayed in St Andrews to support David as he played in the 4 rounds."
