About the Artwork
Sheffield Town Hall, a fine Grade 1 listed building, was opened by Queen Victoria in 1897. It is topped by an impressive 64m high Clock Tower designed in the Renaissance Revival Style.
Ross says that he first visited Sheffield in the early 1960's to tour the Bison Precast Concrete factory, He was involved in the development of a high rise housing development using a Bison prototype system at that time.
His interest in built structures has never waned and, this recent pen and watercolour is Ross's unique personal interpretation of Sheffield Town Hall. An impressive Victorian building which inspired him as a painting subject.
