Clare Island Lighthouse (2023). Original Artwork by Ross Eccles.
31cm x 23cm. Pen & Watercolour on Langton.
Clare Island Lighthouse stands at the entrance to Clew Bay, on Ireland's rocky, rugged and beautiful Atlantic Coast. The Lighthouse has been in service for almost 200 years, and is a historic, well-known and meaningful landmark for many. Here Ross brings colour and life to the rocky landscape, capturing the traditional, rural architecture of the Lighthouse and surrounding cottages, alongside the beauty of the West Coast.
Ross says: "I am concept designing a 'Mayo Energy Hub' on the Corraun Peninsula in the background, some miles away, and needed a compressed (telephoto) image in order to create a notated powerpoint image. I liked this view especially, so I decided to paint a somewhat modified version."
