About the Artwork
Glendalough is famed as the breath-taking "valley of the two lakes" in Ireland, and is located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park. It's world-famous Monastic site with Round Tower, surrounded by scenic lakes and valleys, walks and trails, attracts locals and visitors alike at all times of the year.
Ross says
"I have been painting a number of landscapes in recent times and am generally on the lookout for landscape images that trigger my imagination. This Glendalough image, that struck a chord, was recently posted by Kieran Freeney on Instagram (Kieran is a collector of my work). I printed it off and used it as a basis for this painting. Painting was quickly sketched out in pencil, then blocked out in acryic using a brush. The final application of thicker paint was applied with a palette knife and piece of stick. Paint was applied liberally to add a third dimension to, what could otherwise be viewed, as a “traditional” work".
