Wicklow Port is a small but busy port at the mouth of the Leitrim River, with lots of maritime businesses operating out of it, and many commercial and pleasure vessels docked there. Wickow has a long maritime tradition, with a popular sailing club, and is an busy, bustling town that has grown beautifully over the past 20 years. Here Ross captures the harbour on a sunny day, with the town rising up behind it. A more traditional painting in style but with plenty of Ross's signature bright colours, along with an uplifting sense of vibrancy.
Ross says: "We often walk around Wicklow Harbour and I have painted it before. More recently I took the photo of this view with the intention of painting the scene. This is the outcome which is intentionally in a “more realistic” vein!"
