About this Artwork
Connolly Station, located just North of the River Liffey, was opened in 1844. Designed by William Deane Butler, it features an ornate facade with a distinctive Italianate Tower as it's centrepiece.
Originally named "Amiens Street Station", it was renamed in 1966 to honor James Connolly, one of the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising.
Ross say's that his interpretation of this distinctive Portland Stone building, plays with form, light and colour, regardless of the actual monotones & controlled architectural form of the existing building, A playful take on reality!
