About this Original Artwork
Wire Ropes Ltd. was established in 1951 by the prominent Welsh Industrialist Kenneth Davis. One of his associated companies manufactured the first transatlantic cable, laid by Brunel's S.S. The Great Eastern, skippered by Wicklow Man Captain Robert Halpin.
Ross says: It is always a delight to walk around Wicklow Harbour. I have been intrigued by the composition of these building for some time, so decided to make then the subject of a painting. I took a series of photo's from the new floating pontoon and my composition is based on these. Plus an element of artistic licence as is my wont!
