About the Artwork
I knew the Rathmines area well, when this acrylic artwork was created in 2002.
Most of my artworks in the 1990's were in pen and watercolour. It was later in that decade before I began to paint in acrylic on a regular basis. Acrylic suits my style in our cool Irish climate. Oil paints while ideal in a Mediterranean Climate, are too slow-drying for me, when painting in Ireland or the UK.
This particular artwork is painted in layers. Starting off with a large brush to outline form. Then a series of layers of paint are applied as the mood takes me, with varying sizes of palette knife often loosely applied.
