About the Artwork
Ross took many walks in early June 2023, when this particular piece was painted. It was glorious weather, and Ross took note of all the men out fishing in the warm sunshine. Ross has been a keen angler his whole life, enjoying the peace and quiet of the activity. It has always been a passion and something he continues to make time for now, sharing occasional outings with his son and grandson. This abstract angler captures some of the romance and solitary beauty of a man enjoying a sunny day alone on the shore.
Ross says
"I have recently been walking on Kilcoole Beach and watching sea anglers casting into the waves. Their fishing rods silhouetted against the sky."
